There are entire libraries dedicated to denominational beliefs, let's make it really simple:

  • We believe in God, the creator of the universe, the creator of us.
  • We believe God's word comes to us through the inspiration he gave to the writers of the the holy scriptures.
  • We believe Jesus Christ was God in human form, sent to live among us as a teacher, to demonstrate the Perfect Life, and to save us from the eternal consequences of sin.
  • We believe that God, in the form of the Holy Spirit, is present with us now.
  • We believe that by following the example of Jesus, and opening our hearts to allow the Holy Spirit to work within us, we can be instruments of God's love.

Here's an older, but valid statement of faith: the Apostles Creed

 I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth.

 I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

Born of the Virgin Mary,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate,

 Was crucified, died, and was buried;

 He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

 He ascended into heaven,

 Is seated at the right hand of the Father,

 And will come again to judge the living and the dead.

 I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The holy catholic church,

 The communion of saints,

 The forgiveness of sins,

 The resurrection of the body,

 And the life everlasting. Amen.
